Kain Songket (Songket Cloth) from Singaraja Bali
Songket is weaving technique that involves inserting supplementary threads into woven material. The songket cloth as shown above has repeated triangular patterns. It show influences from Western culture, whereas the edges have a traditional bamboo shoot (tumpal) border. It was made of silk and was used for various traditional ceremonies, such as wedding. Songket is not only produced in Bali, but also in Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan.
